HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY TATTOO APPOINTMENT?
On the day you come in to be tattooed, it is important that you not consume alcohol that day and ideally the night before. Please be clear-headed, healthy, and it is good to at least have had a light meal. These conditions will ensure the best possible start for your tattoo, and help make the experience positive. How well your tattoo heals has everything to do with how well you take care of it afterwards, so be prepared to follow the aftercare instructions I provide.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME TO MY CONSULTATION?
Sketches, drawings, print-outs, and references are greatly appreciated. This helps give me a better and clearer idea of what you want and how you want it to look on your body. If you don’t have any references, just coming in with a clear idea of what you want helps! Along with sketches, ideas, and drawings, you’ll also want to bring payment with you so you can make a deposit. The deposit will secure your appointment and go towards the total cost of your tattoo. The deposit is non-refundable, and if you miss your appointment, you will lose your deposit.
HOW DO I PAY FOR THE TATTOO?
I currently only accept cash.
DO YOU DO FREE TOUCH-UPS?
I guarantee my work. This includes retouching any areas necessary to ensure the longevity of your tattoo. This doesn't mean, however, that I do free touch-ups for an undesignated amount of time. Touch-ups done beyond a reasonable time-frame of the final healing of your tattoo are guaranteed. For work beyond that point, approximately 1 year, I am only able to offer a discounted hourly rate for touching up my work.
CAN I SEE MY DESIGN PRIOR TO THE APPOINTMENT?
I try to get at least a concept sketch to you prior to the appointment with time to tailor the design before hand if necessary. It is sometimes possible that due to my usual workload that I am only able to have the design ready for the actual tattoo appointment. This makes it very important to provide me with as much of a prior description and reference materials as necessary to allow the process to be as fluid and artistic as possible. This also requires a lot of trust in that you've chosen the right artist for your tattoo, so choose wisely.
ARE THERE STYLES YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN?
I am open to illustrate your concept from my own custom approach to ensure your tattoo is as unique and unlike any you may have seen prior. However, I am not interested in, nor do I specialize in strict American and Asian traditional, Celtic, Tribal, or large amounts of lettering. If these are styles you are interested in, I would be happy to direct you to artists who specifically specialize in what you're after. I want you to have a tattoo you are happy with just as much as you do!
IN WHAT STYLES DO YOU PREFER TO WORK?
My portfolio will show examples of my preferred style and what you can expect from the final result. I work primarily in my own custom biomechanical/abstract and illustrative style. I am usually very open to take on other styles as well, but it is important to acknowledge that my personal style will be present in the design.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE CUSTOM STYLE THAT YOU WORK IN?
The style I work in is commonly referred to as "Biomechanical." It is an abstract style that is made to fit and work well with the body's natural forms and movement. It encompasses abstract shapes specifically derived from natures patterns and textures. Its influence is drawn from trees and plants, sea-life, stone, erosion, robotics, space, and our own human bodies to name a few.
What is important to me when designing my work, is the overall flow working well with the body, interesting textures, and a lot of depth.
DO YOU DO ART/PAINTING COMMISSIONS?
Absolutely. I enjoy doing commissioned paintings when I am available to do so. Please make sure to check out the paintings I have done in the past for reference and to familiarize yourself with my work. My general questions will be budget, size, colors, and overall feel of the piece.
CAN I BRING A FRIEND WITH ME FOR SUPPORT?
I don't mind bringing friends along at all. I would definitely say to keep additional people at a minimum though as there isn't much extra room for more than myself and client.
HOW CAN I GET A PRICE QUOTE?
I do not give price quotes over the phone. Pricing is dependent on many variables such as size, location, level of detail, new or cover up, etc. I strongly suggest a consult so that we can discuss the piece and that time you will get a more specific price quote.
DO YOU TAKE WALK-INS?
I definitely prefer to work almost exclusively by appointment, but I will do walk-ins if I am available to do so. However, if your tattoo requires any time consulting or drawing, then its best to make a consultation appointment beforehand.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
I charge by the hour, but I often give more of a flat rate for longer sessions.
ARE THERE AGE RESTRICTIONS FOR TATTOOS?
For all tattoos, you must present a photo ID. Under NO circumstances will I tattoo anyone under 18.
